RABAIL KIRAN
Rabail Kiran, a young single woman, completed her education up to the 10th standard. Having two brothers and a sister, Rabail’s father worked in odd jobs, struggling to support his four children. Due to financial constraints, Rabail was brought up by her paternal uncle and aunt. The lack of resources prevented her from continuing her education, leading her to stay at home. During this period, she discovered her talent for sewing and developed a passion for designing and creating clothes.
As she honed her skills, Rabail began stitching clothes for her neighbours and relatives. As she grew older and became more independent, she returned to live with her family. Despite her mother’s desire to see her married and settled, Rabail was determined to establish herself as a successful business woman before tying the knot. She aims to provide her future children with greater opportunities than she had, ensuring they wouldn’t face the same limitations she did.Now engaged and soon to be married, Rabail
has achieved her goal of establishing herself in her chosen field before starting a family.
She always aspired to achieve a notable status in society through her accomplishments. While she was doing reasonably well on her own, achieving great success seemed like a distant dream. It was at this juncture that her neighbour introduced her to
HomeNetPakistan(HNP).
At HNP’s meeting, she was introduced to the Financial Inclusion of Home-based Workers’ Enterprises through Business Booster Loan and Trainings (FBLT) program. This program aimed to provide customised financial solutions and educational resources to support the growth and sustainability of home-based businesses by educating them about mitigating risks and improving their over all economic well-being.
As an enterprising young woman, she seized the opportunity and started FBLT’s Foundation Level Training.
The Foundation Level Training revolutionised her approach towards her work. Previously, she used to stitch clothes from home and charged minimal fees for her services. However, the training enlightened her about the true value of her skills and resources. She realized that in addition to her expertise, she was also utilising electricity, thread, and iron, along with investing her time, all of which warranted fair compensation. Moreover,it taught her the importance of maintaining a record of expenses and earnings, enabling her to analyze her profitability.
Furthermore, she acquired essential pricing strategies and communication skills, including customer interaction and negotiation techniques. It shifted her mindset from viewing her work as a mere side hustle to recognizing it as a full-fledged business.
“I used to charge PKR 250-300 per suit initially, and I never considered it to be too low, ” shared Rabail. “HNP taught me to factor in the value of my effort, time, and resources into my costs. This was a perspective I had never considered before. Now, I charge PKR 700-800 per suit, and I explain this breakdown to my clients. The quality of my finishing and the excellence of my work speak for themselves, and clients willingly pay this amount for my dedication.”
Implementing these newfound insights, she launched ‘RB Fashion’ , marking a significant step towards establishing her business.
With her workload increasing, Rabail recognized the need for a Juki sewing machine to enhance efficiency and quality of her work. Identifying her need, she started saving money from her business to purchase a better sewing machine. After a couple of months, she bought her required sewing tool, enabling her to fulfill orders with renewed enthusiasm.
Rabail’s creativity also flourished, as she began designing clothes for clients seeking be spoke outfits or bringing in designs from online sources. Her meticulous attention to detail attracted new customers through word-of-mouth recommendations.
Rabail’s journey from earning PKR10,000 per month to now earning between PKR25,000-30,000 per month showcases the transformative power of education and determination. Prior to her Foundation Level Training, Rabail struggled to make ends meet, but with new found knowledge and skills, she has significantly improved her financial situation.
Lookingahead, Rabail dreams of opening her own boutique, where she plan to hire design students and provide employment opportunities to skilled workers.Despite current space constraints, she is diligently saving money torent a shop in the main market. This move not only promises increased visibility for her business but also underscores her desire to support and empower others.
Furthermore, Rabail aspires to become a trainer with HNP, aiming to pay forward the support and guidance received. By helping other women become financially independent, she hope store plicate her own success story and create a ripple effect of empowerment in her community.
