Samina Yousuf is a 46-year-old married woman living in Baldia, Karachi. She is a housewife and has four children. Her husband, Muhammad Yousuf, works as a dyemaker and earns Rs. 40,000 per month. Samina is not working yet, but she struggles with financial difficulties, especially due to her children’s education. She wanted to learn skills that could help her earn money. To support her family and increase her income, Samina got the opportunity to join a basic stitching and fabric designing course with the help of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP). Her course fees and transport costs were fully covered. She also received a travel allowance through the JazzCash app, which helped her manage her expenses. During the course, Samina learned business skills, gained confidence, and got tips on selling her work online in the future. She dreams of launching her own brand. She now wants to keep learning and stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan. She hopes to join a computer course, like Microsoft Office or Graphic Designing, with support from UNDP or HNP. This will help her improve her skills and find better job opportunities.
