Asma Liaquat is a 30-year-old woman from Baldia, Karachi. She cannot hear or speak, which made her dependent on her family. She always wanted to earn her own income, but her disability made it difficult to find opportunities. Asma was determined to learn new skills and become independent. With the help of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), she got the chance to join a basic stitching and fabric designing course at a vocational training institute. Her course fees and transport costs were fully covered. She also received a travel allowance through the EasyPaisa app, which helped her manage her expenses. Despite challenges, she worked hard to learn new skills. This training gave her the confidence to start her own business. She now wants to continue learning and stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan. She hopes to join a computer course, like Microsoft Office or Graphic Designing, with support from UNDP or HNP. This will help her improve her skills and find better job opportunities.
