Case Studies Of Nazma

Nazma is a 50-year-old woman from Baldia Town, Karachi. She has not been able to hear or speak since birth and has always relied on her family for support. Because of her disability, she faced many difficulties in life, especially in finding a way to earn money. She
always wanted to help with her family’s expenses and become independent, but she did not have the right opportunities. Nazma was determined to change her life. She kept looking for ways to learn new skills that could help her earn money. With the support of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), she finally got a chance to join a basic stitching and fabric designing course at a vocational training institute. Her course fees and transport costs were fully covered, so she could focus on learning without worrying about money. She also received a travel allowance through a cash app, which made it easier for her to manage her daily expenses. Even though she faced challenges in communication, Nazma worked hard and learned new skills with dedication. This training not only taught her stitching and fabric designing but also gave her the confidence to start her own small business. She now wants to continue learning and improving her skills. She hopes to stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan and join more training programs to grow her abilities. With her new skills and confidence, Nazma is now working towards financial independence. She hopes to use her stitching business to support herself and her family, proving that with determination and the right support, she can overcome any challenge.
