Naziya Saleem, a 40-year-old married woman from Baldia Town, Karachi, is a mother of two. She works from home and earns PKR 30,000, which helps run the household. Since her husband, Saleem Ullah, is unemployed, Naziya and her daughter take full responsibility for the family’s financial needs. Thanks to the support from UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), Naziya got the opportunity to join a vocational training program where she learned stitching and fabric designing. Her course fee and travel expenses were completely taken care of, and she received a transport allowance through the EasyPaisa app, which also helped her improve her digital and money-handling skills. During the training, she also gained marketing knowledge, managing a small business, and selling her work online. These skills gave her the confidence to expand her home-based stitching work and attract more customers. Naziya is motivated to continue learning and wants to stay in touch with HNP for future opportunities. She hopes to enroll in a computer course, like Microsoft Office, to strengthen her digital skills and explore more career options. Her main goal is to become financially strong, better support her children’s education and career paths, and build a secure future for her family.
