Case Studies Of Malaika

Malaika, a 19-year-old young woman from Baldia, Karachi, lives with her father, Hanif, who works hard as a laborer and earns only Rs. 15,000 a month. Watching her father struggle, Malaika always wanted to do something to support him and ease the financial pressure on the family. She had a dream of using her interest in stitching to earn from home. Her dream started to come true when she got the chance to join a basic stitching and fabric designing course at a Sindh vocational training center, made possible by UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP). The best part was that she didn’t have to worry about any expenses—the course fee and transport were completely covered. She also received a travel allowance through the EasyPaisa app, which helped her attend the classes regularly and without stress. During the training, Malaika didn’t just improve her stitching skills. She also learned how to turn her work into a small business—how to present it well, reach customers, and even sell her designs online. But more than anything, she gained confidence and hope for the future. Now, Malaika feels positive and motivated. She wants to keep learning, stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan, and one day start her own business. This training gave her more than just skills—it gave her a new direction in life. With ongoing support, Malaika is ready to move towards a brighter and more independent future.
