Case Studies Of Sajida Kanwal

Sajida Kanwal, a 40-year-old mother of three from Baldia, Karachi, has always wanted to do more for her family. Her husband, Shakeel, works as a carpenter and brings home about Rs. 28,000 a month—just enough to get by. Sajida, who stitches clothes from home, always dreamed of building her skills so she could help ease the financial burden. That dream began to take shape when she got the chance to join a basic stitching and fabric designing course at a Sindh vocational training center, thanks to the support of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP). The entire course—fees, transport, everything—was covered, which meant Sajida could focus fully on learning without worrying about the cost. She also received a travel allowance through the EasyPaisa app, making it even easier to attend regularly. Throughout the course, Sajida didn’t just learn new stitching techniques—she also picked up valuable business skills, like how to present her work and sell it online. Most importantly, she started to believe in herself and what she could achieve. Today, Sajida is filled with hope. She wants to keep growing, stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan, and one day run her own small business. For her, this training wasn’t just about sewing— it was a turning point. With continued support, Sajida is ready to build a better, more independent future for herself and her family.
