Case Studies Of Iqra

Iqra, a 24-year-old married woman from Baldia, Karachi, lives with her husband, Shahzaib, and their young child. She works from home, stitching clothes, and has always wanted to support her husband, who earns around Rs. 32,000 per month as a government employee. Iqra was eager to improve her stitching skills and learn fabric designing so she could start earning more and contribute to the family income. Her journey took a positive turn when she was selected for a basic stitching and fabric designing course at a Sindh vocational training center, supported by UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP). The course came at no cost to her—both the course fee and transport were fully covered. She also received a travel allowance through the EasyPaisa app, making it easier for her to attend regularly
without worrying about daily expenses. Throughout the training, Iqra not only improved her stitching and designing abilities, but she also learned valuable business skills, including how to market and sell her work online. This gave her a new sense of confidence and purpose. Now, Iqra is determined to keep moving forward. She plans to stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan, continue learning, and work toward turning her talent into a reliable source of income. With continued support, she hopes to build a more independent and secure future for herself and her family.
