Case Studies Of Musarrat

Musarat Saeed, a 30-year-old single woman from a modest household, works as a home-based stitching worker. Her father, Mohammad Saeed, is an employee earning PKR 40,000 monthly. Before joining any formal training, Musarat earned around PKR 9,000 through basic stitching, but lacked advanced skills and exposure to wider markets. With the support of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), she enrolled in a vocational training program where she learned basic stitching and fabric designing. The course fees and transport costs were fully covered, and she received her travel allowance through a cash app, which also helped her gain confidence in handling money and digital tools. After completing the course, Musarat’s skills improved significantly. She enhanced the quality of her work, gained more customers, and saw an income increase of about 30%. Motivated by this progress, she now plans to continue learning and hopes to take a computer course to expand her opportunities and contribute more to her household income.
