Case Studies Of Tallat Shaheen

Tallat Shaheen is a 40-year-old married woman from Baldia, Karachi. She used to work from home but hasn’t been working recently. Her husband, M. Tariq, is a laborer who earns Rs. 28,000 a month, which isn’t enough to cover all the household expenses. Tallat always wanted to do something on her own and help support her family, but she didn’t have the right skills or opportunity. Things started to change when UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP) gave her the chance to join a basic stitcaqhing and fabric designing course at a vocational training center. The best part was that she didn’t have to worry about the cost—her course fee and transport were fully covered. She also received a travel allowance through the EasyPaisa app, which made it easier for her to attend classes regularly. During the course, Tallat not only learned stitching and designing but also picked up useful business tips. She gained confidence and learned how she could sell her work online in the future. This experience gave her a sense of hope and a new purpose. Now, she’s excited to keep learning and stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan. She’s interested in doing a computer course like Microsoft Office or Graphic Designing, so she can improve her skills even more and maybe start her own small business one day. With continued support, Tallat is working towards a better, more independent future for herself and her family.
