Case Studies Of Anumta Naz

Anumta Naz is a 20-year-old unmarried woman from Baldia Town, Karachi. She has completed her intermediate education and works from home as a stitching worker. Her father, Abdul Samad, works as an employee in a private company and earns PKR 30,000 per month. Anumta wanted to support her family financially but had very limited skills and income before receiving any training. With the help of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), Anumta enrolled in a vocational training program where she learned basic stitching and fabric designing. Her training fees and transportation costs were fully covered. She also received her travel allowance through a digital cash app, which helped her become more confident in handling money and using digital tools. Before joining the course, Anumta used to earn only around PKR 3,000 per month by doing basic stitching work for a small number of local customers. She lacked professional skills and didn’t know how to market her work or grow her business. After completing the training, Anumta became a certified professional. Her stitching quality improved a lot, and new customers began reaching out to her. Now, depending on the amount of work she gets, she earns between PKR 5,000 to 10,000 per month. She feels more confident, and her work is now more recognized and appreciated. However, Anumta still faces financial challenges at home. Her father’s income is not enough to meet all household expenses, especially with rising prices of daily essentials. She often struggles to manage stitching material costs like threads, fabric, and tools. Even though her income has increased, it’s still not enough to fully support the family or invest in expanding her small business. Anumta is eager to continue learning and wants to stay connected with HomeNet Pakistan. She hopes to enroll in a computer course, such as Microsoft Office, to further improve her skills and open doors to better job opportunities. Her dream is to become financially independent, reduce the financial burden on her father, and help provide a better future for her family.
