Case Studies Of Kanwal Adnan

Kanwal Adnan is a 41-year-old married woman from Baldia Town, Karachi. She is the mother of three children and has completed her matriculation. Kanwal works from home doing stitching. Her husband, Adnan Ahmad, also works and earns PKR 30,000 monthly. Although she has a steady income, Kanwal is facing financial difficulties and is unable to save enough money to fulfill her dream of opening a skill training center. With the support of UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), Kanwal got the chance to join a vocational training program where she learned basic stitching and fabric designing. Her course fee and travel  expenses were fully covered, and she received her travel allowance through a cash app, which helped her become more confident in using digital tools and managing money. During the training, she also gained knowledge in marketing, small business management, and online selling. These skills gave her the motivation to take her stitching work more seriously and think about expanding her work in the future. Before joining the course, she used to earn around PKR 25,000 to 30,000. After completing the training, she improved the quality of her work and started designing more beautiful clothes. This helped her attract more customers and grow her business. Now, she earns more than PKR 40,000 per month. Kanwal is eager to keep learning and stay connected with HNP. She hopes to receive support in starting her skill training center, where she can train other women and help them build better futures.
