Case Studies Of Nazia Akram

Naziya Akram is a 45-year-old widow from Baldia Town, Karachi. She has two children and works from home, earning PKR 15,000 through stitching. After the death of her husband, Muhammad Akram, she faced many difficult times that she finds hard to talk about. Despite the challenges, she continues to support her family through her work. With support from UNDP and HomeNet Pakistan (HNP),Naziya joined a vocational training program where she learned stitching and fabric designing. Her training fees and travel costs were fully covered, and she received her travel allowance through a cash app, which helped her get better at using digital tools and managing money. During the training, she also learned about marketing, small business management, and how to sell her work online. These new skills boosted her confidence and helped her grow her home-based business. Naziya is eager to keep learning and wants to stay connected with HNP for more opportunities. She hopes to take a computer course, like Microsoft Office, to improve her digital skills and explore new job options. Her main goal is to become financially stable, support her children’s education, and build a better future for her family.
