Case Studies Of Zarmeena

Zarmina, a 19-year-old single woman from Musharraf Colony, Baldia, Karachi, is a dedicated home-based worker who seeks financial independence. She lives with her father, Abdul Shakoor, who earns Rs. 30,000 monthly and helps her mother with stitching clothes. While studying in the 12th grade, Zarmina is focused on acquiring stitching and fabric designing skills to support herself and cover her expenses. She enrolled in a vocational training institute to learn basic stitching and fabric designing. With financial support from UNDP and assistance from HomeNet Pakistan (HNP), Zarmina’s enrollment fees and transportation costs are fully covered. Additionally, she receives her transport allowance through a digital wallet, which helps her manage her finances better. HNP’s training programs have been vital in enhancing her skills and boosting her confidence. Zarmina plans to continue her learning journey by staying connected with HomeNet Pakistan and looking for another opportunity to enroll in a threemonth computer skills course, including Microsoft Office, to open up more career opportunities. Through these training experiences, Zarmina is progressing toward personal development and greater financial independence, with continued backing from HNP and UNDP.
