Appeal for supporting Women in the Informal Economy

HomeNet Pakistan is working across Pakistan for the upliftment of Home base worker and women in the Informal Economy.

During the COVID -19 lockdown , Home workers and other women in the informal economy have been largely effected due to the close of the piece rate work and micro own account businesses. As HomeNet Pakistan started collecting data of the unsecured Home workers, Domestic workers and other daily wage earners and later linking them up with the EHSASS Program, we realized that not all the women can have access to the cash transfers from the EHSASS Program. In order to address the critical situation within the home workers , domestic workers and other women in informal economy, HomeNet Pakistan has initially decided to support 100 women by providing them support for one month equal  to minimum wage 16,000/ PKR through cash transfers.

HomeNet Pakistan is establishing a contingency fund for supporting women in the informal economy ensuring that they do not fall back into poverty index. We have data of around 900 women who are in need and their business have been closed out due the lock down and have no work. Initially the fund would support 100 women through cash transfer of 16,000/ PKRS .The details would be shared on the website.
